Growth For National Coverage: Divisions Maintenance Group Opens 5 New Offices In 2011
January, 2012 - Newport, KY – Divisions Maintenance Group, a provider of facilities maintenance services, has experienced significant growth in 2011 with the opening of 5 new offices: Tulsa, OK; Sacramento, CA; Los Angeles, CA; Raleigh, NC; and, Seattle, WA. Plans are also in place for the opening of an additional 3 offices in First Quarter, 2012: Richmond, VA; Charlotte, NC; and, Las Vegas, NV.
Headquartered in Newport, KY, Divisions provides national coverage for services including snow removal, landscaping, parking lot maintenance, plumbing, electrical, and general construction. The Company’s clients are primarily retailers and property management companies.
Gary Mitchell, Divisions CEO, views the growth as a natural extension of the Company’s commitment to customer service and quality national coverage. “When we open a new office, it's because the needs of our clients are demanding it.”
Since 2008, this kind of growth has been rare among firms that focus on business relationships with retailers. In many cases, those firms are just beginning to establish their “new normal” in the post-recession era. Conversely, since its inception in 1999, Divisions has succeeded by consistently remaining attuned to the carefully managed budgets of its clients – a key component to long-term, sustained, and mutually rewarding partnerships.
“On the retailer side of the equation, we understand that our clients’ internal operating systems are very lean,” says Mitchell. “They don't have the staff or the budgets they’ve historically been accustomed to. We have to help them do more with less. Divisions has been able to provide the eyes and ears on the properties that retailers just don't have the manpower for these days. We are constantly looking for new ways to give them visibility on their sites.”

Opening 5 offices in the course of one year has required Divisions to judiciously allocate their own resources, as well. Over the last 4 years, Divisions has grown an average of 50% each year. The Company has had to invest heavily in internal infrastructure to support the expanding footprint. Human Resources, IT, Accounting, and Customer Service have all been strengthened this year. Mitchell notes, “We'll do whatever it takes to make sure we are keeping our promise to be physically present on our clients' properties.”
In the national facilities maintenance arena, outsourcing models are common – a central call center will remotely coordinate maintenance services. For Divisions, however, having true national coverage means maintaining a team of on-the-ground field personnel that routinely visit customers’ sites and are available at a moment’s notice to solve service issues. Consolidated maintenance services are provided through multiple branch offices, forming a sustained national network of qualified and certified providers. Each certified provider carries the highest standards attainable within their industry – carefully evaluated and guaranteed by Division’s rigorous qualification standards.
